Generative AI Policy

Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies Policy
Jurnal Fundadikdas (Fundamental Pendidikan Dasar) supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scholarly research and communication. This policy aims to promote innovation while safeguarding academic integrity, research validity, authorship accountability, and publication ethics.

  1. Permitted Use
Authors may use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies for language improvement, grammar correction, readability, translation, summarization, and manuscript editing, provided that these tools do not replace the authors' intellectual contributions, critical analysis, or scholarly judgment. AI-assisted technologies may also be used for legitimate research activities, including data processing, statistical analysis, coding, qualitative data analysis, and the development of research instruments or educational materials, where appropriate to the research design. When AI tools are used in substantive research activities, authors must disclose their use and describe the relevant procedures, tools, models, versions, parameters, and validation methods in the appropriate manuscript section. Authors must ensure that the use of AI is methodologically justified and that the reported findings are supported by verifiable evidence. Authors must not use AI to fabricate or falsify data, generate misleading evidence, manipulate research findings, or misrepresent the originality or nature of their contributions.
  2. Human Responsibility and Accountability
Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, including material generated or modified with AI assistance. All AI-generated or AI-assisted content must be critically reviewed and verified before submission. Authors must check factual accuracy, methodological validity, the authenticity of references, proper attribution, and compliance with applicable copyright and research ethics requirements. AI-generated references, quotations, data, or factual claims must not be accepted without independent verification. AI systems must not be treated as authoritative sources solely because they produce plausible or convincing responses. Authors remain accountable for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the published work, regardless of the tools used during its preparation.
  3. Authorship
Generative AI tools and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Fundadikdas (Fundamental Pendidikan Dasar). Authorship is reserved for individuals who can make intellectual contributions, approve the final manuscript, and accept responsibility for the integrity of the work. Human authors must ensure that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship requirements and that AI-assisted contributions are disclosed when required by this policy.
  4. Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies when these tools contribute substantively to manuscript preparation, content generation, research design, data analysis, coding, interpretation, or the production of research-related materials. The disclosure should identify the tool or service used, its purpose, and the nature of its contribution. For AI use that forms part of the research methodology, additional technical details must be provided in the Methods or Research Methodology section. Routine mechanical assistance, such as conventional spell-checking or basic grammar correction that does not generate substantive content or alter the intellectual meaning of the manuscript, does not require disclosure. Where disclosure is required, authors should include a statement in the manuscript, preferably in an appropriately designated section before the References, in accordance with the journal's manuscript template. Authors may use the following format:
Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

"During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of AI tool or service] for [specific purpose]. The author(s) critically reviewed and verified the resulting content, made revisions where necessary, and accepted full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the published work."

For research-related uses, authors must provide additional methodological information sufficient to evaluate the role of AI in producing or analyzing the research findings.
  5. Figures, Images, and Other Visual Materials
Authors must ensure that all figures, photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphical abstracts, and other visual materials accurately represent the research and comply with applicable copyright, attribution, and research integrity requirements. The use of generative AI to create or modify visual materials must be disclosed when it materially contributes to the manuscript or constitutes part of the research methodology. AI-generated or AI-modified visual materials must not be presented as authentic photographs, original observations, or unaltered research evidence when they are not. When AI-generated images or other visual outputs form an integral part of the research, authors must describe the relevant tools, models, versions, prompts or parameters, and validation procedures in the manuscript, as appropriate. Authors must obtain any required permissions for third-party materials and must not use AI tools to manipulate visual evidence in a manner that misrepresents the research findings.
  6. Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers must preserve the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and all related editorial communications. Submitted manuscripts, reviewer reports, and confidential editorial materials must not be uploaded to external AI systems when confidentiality cannot be assured, unless such use is explicitly authorized in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable permissions. AI tools must not replace the independent scholarly judgment of editors or reviewers. Any permitted use of AI in editorial assessment or review must comply with the journal's confidentiality, transparency, and publication ethics requirements. Editors and reviewers remain responsible for the accuracy, fairness, impartiality, and integrity of their editorial decisions and review reports.
  7. Editorial Assessment and Consequences of Misuse
The editorial team may request additional information or clarification concerning the use of AI at any stage of submission, peer review, or publication. Failure to disclose AI use when required, fabrication or falsification of research materials, misrepresentation of AI-generated content, or other serious violations of publication ethics may result in requests for correction, rejection, suspension of the editorial process, or retraction of a published article, as appropriate to the circumstances. All suspected violations will be assessed on the basis of available evidence, the nature and seriousness of the conduct, and the journal's publication ethics procedures.
  8. Policy Compliance
All authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to comply with this policy. The journal may revise these provisions as AI technologies, research practices, and publication ethics standards evolve. This policy should be read together with the journal's Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Screening, and Peer Review Process policies.
