Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy
Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy
Jurnal Fundadikdas (Fundamental Pendidikan Dasar) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occur during research and publication and that certain circumstances may require corrections, retractions, or manuscript withdrawals. This policy is guided by internationally recognized publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All cases are assessed fairly, transparently, and proportionately, taking into account the nature and seriousness of the issue.
- Correction Policy (Erratum and Corrigendum)
Corrections may be issued when errors are identified in a published article that require amendment but do not invalidate the overall reliability of the research findings or conclusions. Corrections may include, but are not limited to, errors in author names, institutional affiliations, funding information, equations, tables, figures, references, or other published information.
Corrigendum: A correction notice generally used when an error originated from the author(s), such as an incorrect author affiliation, a missing acknowledgment, or an error in a formula.
Erratum: A correction notice generally used when an error was introduced during the journal's editorial or production process, such as a typesetting error, an incorrect figure caption, or a layout problem.
The journal will assess the nature and significance of each reported error before deciding whether a formal correction is necessary.
Correction Procedure
(1) Notification: Authors, readers, editors, or other relevant parties may report a suspected error to the Editorial Office.
(2) Assessment: The editor evaluates the reported error and may consult the authors or relevant experts when necessary.
(3) Editorial decision: If a correction is warranted, the journal prepares a correction notice identifying the original article and explaining the amendment.
(4) Publication and linking: The correction notice is published separately and linked to the original article. The original article will generally remain available, with an appropriate notice or link to the correction.
Corrections will be handled in a manner that preserves the transparency and traceability of the publication record. If an error substantially compromises the validity of the findings, the journal may consider retraction instead of correction. - Retraction Policy (Post-Publication)
Retraction is a mechanism for correcting the scholarly record when a published article contains seriously unreliable findings or involves significant violations of research or publication ethics. The Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor may consider retracting an article under the following circumstances:
(1) Unreliable findings: Clear evidence indicates that the results or conclusions are unreliable because of research misconduct, such as data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation, or because of serious unintentional errors.
(2) Redundant or duplicate publication: The article substantially duplicates previously published work without appropriate disclosure or justification.
(3) Plagiarism: The article contains substantial unattributed copying of text, ideas, data, figures, or other intellectual contributions.
(4) Research ethics violations: The research involved serious ethical breaches, including the absence of required ethical approval or informed consent where applicable.
(5) Other serious publication misconduct: Credible evidence indicates that the integrity or reliability of the published article has been materially compromised.
Retraction will not be imposed automatically because of a minor error, a disagreement over interpretation, or a similarity score alone. The journal will evaluate the available evidence and determine the appropriate editorial action.
Retraction Procedure
Retraction cases are assessed individually through a fair and evidence-based process.
(1) Initial assessment: The editorial team evaluates the concern and determines whether further investigation is warranted.
(2) Evidence gathering: The journal reviews the available evidence and may consult the authors, independent experts, relevant institutions, or research ethics committees where appropriate.
(3) Author response: Authors will normally be informed of the concerns and given a reasonable opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.
(4) Editorial decision: The authorized editor determines whether retraction, correction, an expression of concern, or another action is appropriate.
(5) Retraction notice: If retraction is necessary, the journal publishes a clearly identifiable notice explaining the reason for the decision.
(6) Publication record: The original article remains accessible where appropriate and is clearly marked as retracted. The retraction notice is linked to the original article, and relevant DOI metadata and indexing records are updated where applicable.
The journal does not ordinarily remove a retracted article from its website because maintaining access to the publication history supports transparency and protects the scholarly record. Exceptions may be necessary in circumstances involving legal requirements, personal safety, or other exceptional considerations. Retraction decisions are intended to correct the scholarly record and are not intended solely as a form of punishment against authors. - Manuscript Withdrawal Policy (Pre-Publication)
Manuscript withdrawal refers to the removal of a submitted manuscript from the editorial process before publication. Authors are expected to submit their work exclusively to Jurnal Fundadikdas (Fundamental Pendidikan Dasar) while it is under consideration and must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to another journal. Withdrawal requests are evaluated according to the stage of the editorial process and the circumstances of the request.
3.1. Before Peer Review
Authors may request withdrawal before the manuscript is sent to external reviewers. The corresponding author must submit a written request identifying the manuscript and explaining the reason for withdrawal. The Editorial Office will review the request and issue written confirmation once the withdrawal has been approved.
3.2. During Peer Review
Withdrawal requests made after a manuscript has been sent to reviewers will be assessed individually. Authors should provide a valid explanation for the request, particularly where the review process is already underway. The journal recognizes that legitimate circumstances may require withdrawal, including substantial errors in the research, authorship disputes, or concerns about research integrity. Such cases will be handled fairly and without automatic penalties. However, withdrawing a manuscript solely to submit it to another journal while the current review process is ongoing may constitute an unethical publishing practice. The journal may take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies if evidence establishes misconduct.
3.3. After Acceptance but Before Publication
Withdrawal after acceptance is strongly discouraged because editorial assessment, reviewer engagement, and production activities may already have been completed or initiated. Requests at this stage must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author, with a clear explanation and confirmation from co-authors where necessary. The journal will evaluate the circumstances before issuing a decision. If the article has already been published online or assigned a formal publication record, the request will be handled under the journal's post-publication correction and retraction procedures rather than as an ordinary manuscript withdrawal. - Administrative Withdrawal Fees
Jurnal Fundadikdas (Fundamental Pendidikan Dasar) will apply an administrative withdrawal fee only if such a fee has been formally adopted by the journal, is consistent with applicable requirements, and is clearly disclosed to authors before submission. Any applicable fee must specify the amount, the stage at which it may be charged, and the circumstances under which it applies. The policy must be publicly accessible and consistently implemented. No administrative withdrawal fee will be imposed solely because an author raises a legitimate research integrity concern, reports a substantial error, or requests withdrawal for another valid ethical reason. If the journal has not formally established an administrative withdrawal fee, no such fee will be charged. - Withdrawal Procedure
All manuscript withdrawal requests must meet the following requirements:
(1) The request must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author.
(2) The manuscript title and identification number must be provided.
The reason for withdrawal must be clearly stated.
(3) Confirmation from all co-authors may be requested where necessary, particularly in cases involving authorship disputes.
(4) The request must be sent to the Editorial Office through the journal's official contact information.
The Editorial Office will assess the request and provide written confirmation when the withdrawal has been formally approved. Submitting a withdrawal request does not automatically terminate the editorial process. The manuscript remains under consideration until the journal issues official confirmation of withdrawal. If a withdrawal request involves suspected misconduct, conflicting instructions from co-authors, or other unresolved ethical concerns, the journal may conduct further inquiries before reaching a decision. - Unethical Withdrawal and Editorial Action
The journal expects authors to act responsibly and communicate transparently throughout the submission and publication process. Where evidence indicates that an author has engaged in serious unethical conduct, such as simultaneous submission, misrepresentation of the manuscript's status, or deliberate disregard of editorial procedures, the journal may take proportionate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies. Possible actions may include a formal warning, suspension of the current submission, rejection of the manuscript, or referral of substantiated concerns to the relevant institution when justified and appropriate. Any decision to restrict future submissions or notify an author's institution must be based on documented evidence, a fair assessment of the circumstances, and a proportionate editorial response. Such action will not be imposed automatically for every withdrawal request. - Contact the Editorial Office
