Retraction & Withdrawn

NOTION is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing, research integrity, and publication ethics. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices, including the principles and recommendations established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Article Retraction Policy

A published article may be retracted when clear and convincing evidence demonstrates that the findings or publication record are unreliable or violate accepted standards of research and publication ethics.

Retraction may be considered under, but is not limited to, the following circumstances:

  1. Unreliable Findings

The published results are shown to be unreliable due to research misconduct (e.g., data fabrication, data falsification, or manipulation) or significant unintentional errors, including major methodological flaws, analytical mistakes, or computational miscalculations.

  1. Redundant or Duplicate Publication

The manuscript has been published elsewhere, either wholly or substantially, without appropriate disclosure, permission, or legitimate editorial justification.

  1. Plagiarism

The article contains plagiarized material, including unattributed text, figures, data, ideas, or any other intellectual property that violates accepted standards of academic integrity.

  1. Ethical Misconduct

The research was conducted or reported in violation of recognized ethical principles, including but not limited to lack of ethical approval, absence of informed consent where applicable, manipulation of authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other breaches of research ethics.

Retraction Procedure

All retraction cases are evaluated individually through a fair, transparent, and evidence-based editorial process. Whenever appropriate, authors will be given an opportunity to respond before a final editorial decision is made.

NOTION follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Retraction Guidelines in handling all retraction cases. Editorial decisions are made independently to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

Submission of a manuscript to NOTION represents the authors' commitment to an ethical and exclusive editorial process. Authors are expected not to submit the same manuscript simultaneously to another journal while it is under consideration by NOTION.

Before Peer Review

Authors may request withdrawal of their manuscript before it is assigned for peer review without any administrative consequences.

During Peer Review

Once the manuscript has entered the peer-review process, withdrawal requests will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. Since editors and reviewers devote substantial time and professional expertise to manuscript evaluation, authors are expected to respect the integrity of the editorial process.

Withdrawal solely because the manuscript has been accepted or submitted to another journal is considered an unethical publishing practice and may result in appropriate editorial action.

After Acceptance

Requests for withdrawal after a manuscript has been accepted are strongly discouraged and will only be considered in exceptional cases supported by valid and compelling reasons.

Administrative Withdrawal Fee

If a manuscript is withdrawn after peer review has commenced without an acceptable ethical justification, NOTION reserves the right to impose an administrative withdrawal fee to partially compensate for the editorial management and peer-review resources already invested.

The applicable withdrawal fee, if any, shall be determined in accordance with the current journal policy.

Withdrawal Procedure

All withdrawal requests must:

  • be submitted by the corresponding author;
  • include the manuscript identification number;
  • clearly state the reason for withdrawal; and
  • receive written confirmation from the Editorial Office before the withdrawal is considered effective.

Submission of a withdrawal request does not automatically terminate the editorial process. The manuscript remains under consideration until an official withdrawal confirmation is issued by the journal.

For withdrawal requests or further assistance, please contact the Editorial Office at notion@uad.ac.id.
