Authorship Criteria
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan is committed to upholding internationally recognized standards of publication ethics, including the principles and recommendations established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship in NOTION acknowledges significant scholarly contributions and entails responsibility and accountability for the integrity of the published work. All authors are expected to meet the following criteria:
1. Authorship Eligibility
To qualify for authorship, each individual listed as an author must meet all four of the following criteria:
a. Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
b. Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for significant intellectual and conceptual content.
c. Approve the final version of the manuscript for publication.
d. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
2. Non-Author Contributors and Acknowledgments
Individuals who contribute to a research project but do not meet all four authorship criteria must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Such contributions may include technical assistance, language editing or proofreading, administrative support, the provision of research facilities, or general supervisory assistance. These individuals may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, provided that their permission has been obtained and the nature of their contributions is clearly stated.
3. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
NOTION strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including ghost authorship, in which individuals who have made qualifying contributions are omitted; guest or gift authorship, in which individuals are listed despite not meeting the authorship criteria; and honorary authorship, in which authorship is granted solely on the basis of seniority, position, reputation, or institutional affiliation. All authorship decisions must reflect actual scholarly contributions and comply with the journal’s ethical standards.
By submitting a manuscript to NOTION, authors confirm that their listed authorship accurately reflects their contributions, that all authors have approved the submitted version, and that they accept responsibility for the integrity of the work in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
