Abstract

Climate change and environmental degradation have increased the need for sustainable industrial practices, requiring vocational education to prepare graduates with relevant green skills. However, vocational training often fails to meet industry expectations for sustainability competencies. This study systematically reviews the literature on green skills, green industry standards, and workforce readiness using the Scopus database. A total of 38 publications were analyzed through a systematic literature review, bibliometric mapping, and thematic network analysis to identify research trends and conceptual relationships. The findings reveal fragmented integration of green skills into vocational education, particularly in curriculum development, industry collaboration, and experiential learning. The reviewed studies highlight the importance of embedding sustainability principles into vocational curricula to produce environmentally responsible and industry-ready graduates. This review offers a conceptual framework and practical recommendations for educators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to enhance green workforce readiness and advance sustainable vocational education.
