Abstract

Learning media functions as a means of conveying information that can increase students' interest, motivation, and metacognitive skills. Based on the results of preliminary research on 18 seventh grade students, many students are less enthusiastic in learning science. The seventh grade science teacher also stated that students are still not motivated to learn. To overcome this problem, learning media are needed that can improve metacognition and student learning motivation, one of which is the Nearpod web-based learning media application. The research design used Research & Development (RnD) with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research method used a combination method (mixed method). Nearpod learning media was declared suitable for use based on the validation results of three aspects, namely the material aspect (83.3% - suitable), the media aspect (94% - very suitable), and the item aspect (77% - suitable). The readability test by 18 seventh grade students showed a result of 77.9% (good). The improvement in students' metacognitive skills, measured through pre-tests and post-tests, resulted in an average N-Gain score of 0.71, categorized as high improvement. Furthermore, students' learning motivation increased from 23.8% to 55.6%, with students being very enthusiastic about learning science after using Nearpod media.
