Yardhowailmukhlis92@gmail.comMoh. Fuad Salimwailmukhlis92@gmail.com
This article aims to examine the transformation and historical development of Qur'anic exegesis during the reign of three major Islamic dynasties: Idrīsiyyah, Fāṭimiyyah, and Uthmāniyyah. The main research question explores how the patterns, methodologies, and contributions of tafsir evolved within the framework of political authority and socio-historical change. Employing a qualitative method with a historical approach, this study analyzes primary sources from classical tafsir works and secondary references from historical and academic literature. The findings reveal that tafsir underwent significant evolution during each dynastic period. Under the Idrīsiyyah dynasty, exegesis began to be codified with emphasis on Ahl al-Bayt, linguistics, and fiqh. The Fāṭimiyyah era developed theological and esoteric interpretations aligned with Ismaili Shi’ism. Meanwhile, the Uthmāniyyah period marked a diversification of interpretive approaches, including scientific, spiritual, adabī-societal, and legal methodologies, supported by formal institutions. This study concludes that tafsir is a dynamic intellectual product shaped by continuous interaction between the Qur'anic text, its interpreters, and the historical contexts in which they lived.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Wail Mukhlis, Moh. The theory of asbāb al-wurūd serves as a critical approach in ḥadīth studies, as it helps to uncover the underlying reasons or circumstances surrounding a particular prophetic statement. Through a qualitative library-based research method, this study explores the relationship between text and context in ḥadīth, and highlights the significance of asbāb al-wurūd in preventing misinterpretation and deepening the understanding of Islamic legal rulings. The findings reveal that asbāb al-wurūd not only clarifies the meaning of a ḥadīth more accurately but also provides a dynamic, inclusive, and contextually grounded interpretation aligned with the principles of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. Nevertheless, this approach faces certain limitations, particularly when the context is not explicitly recorded or relies on weak chains of narration. Therefore, methodological caution and a critical approach are essential in applying the asbāb al-wurūd theory in contemporary ḥadīth scholarship.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Aris Nurohman, Abdul Mustaqimhttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/14655Interpretation Methods in Islamic Boarding Schools: The Case of AMBS Garut and al-Kamil Tangerang2025-10-23T03:56:59+00:00Asep Ahmad Fathurrohmanasepahmad.fathurahman@uinsgd.ac.idRidwan Eko Prasetyoridwan.eko.prasetyo@gmail.comZaben Azeez Khalafzabn204@gmail.com
This study is motivated by the limited research on the specific methodologies employed in tafsir (Qur'anic interpretation) education within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), despite its significant impact on shaping religious understanding and practice. The study aims to analyze and compare the tafsir learning and teaching methodologies at Al-Mashduqi Boarding School (AMBS) in Garut and Pesantren Al-Kamil in Tangerang. The research adopts a qualitative design, with data collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis at both pesantren. Data was analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings reveal that while both pesantren share some similarities in their approach to tafsir education, they also exhibit distinct differences in curriculum design, teaching methods, and evaluation strategies, reflecting their unique educational philosophies and goals. The study concludes that the methodologies employed are influenced by factors such as the pesantren's vision, the teachers' expertise, and the students' needs. The implications encompass practical recommendations for pesantren to enhance their tafsir education programs by incorporating diverse teaching methodologies, providing adequate resources, and addressing the challenges of teaching tafsir in the modern context. Additionally, this study identifies future research opportunities on the impact of different tafsir methodologies on students' understanding and application of the Qur'an.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Asep Ahmad Fathurrohman, Ridwan Eko Prasetyohttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/14512Exploring the Concept of Ma'rifatullah as Preparation for Marriage: Thematic Study of Tafsir al-Misbah2025-12-23T15:21:21+00:00Jauharah Khairun Nisajauharahkhair@gmail.comIlzam Hubby Dzikrillah Alfaniilzamhubby21@gmail.com
This research is motivated by the high divorce rate in Indonesia, which indicates a fragility in marital resilience. The root of the problem often lies in the daily interaction dynamics between partners with different characters and backgrounds. This article aims to explore the concept of ma’rifatullah (deep knowledge of Allah) as a fundamental spiritual provision for building household resilience and harmony. To achieve this objective, this study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach and applies thematic interpretation (tafsir maudu’i). The primary data source is Tafsir Al-Misbah by Muhammad Quraish Shihab, used to analyze QS. Az-Zāriyāt [51]: 56, QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 2-3, QS. Ar-Rūm [30]: 21, and QS. Aṭ-Ṭalāq [65]: 2-3. This is supported by secondary sources such as relevant journals and books. The research findings conclude that ma’rifatullah offers a solid spiritual foundation by instilling the values of piety (taqwa), patience (sabr), gratitude (shukr), and trust in God (tawakkal). These values serve as a practical guide for couples in navigating conflict and household dynamics. Thus, the internalization of ma’rifatullah plays a crucial role as a shield against dissolution and as a bonding agent for realizing a family embodying tranquillity (sakinah), love (mawaddah), and mercy (rahmah).
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Jauharah Khairun Nisa, Ilzam Hubby Dzikrillah Alfanihttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/14900Mental Health in the Perspective of Hadith: Utsman Najati’s Concept and its Contribution to Islamic Education2025-12-02T14:31:39+00:00Daffa Nur Fauzydaffanurfauzy771@gmail.comFarid Setiawanfarid.setiawan@pai.uad.ac.idAmmar Thufail Amrullah2023182174@ses.yu.edu.jo
This study aims to analyze the concept of mental health in the thought of M. Utsman Najati and its contribution to the Islamic education paradigm. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing thematic analysis and hadith contextualization, to interpret the integration between revelation and psychology. The findings indicate that Najati’s key contribution is challenging the reductionist tendency of Western psychology by integrating spiritual, psychological, social, and biological dimensions into a unified, prophetic paradigm as the basis for achieving inner balance (at-tawāzun an-nafsī). He introduces a conceptual model for Islamic education that aims to develop the insān kāmil (complete human being), characterized by emotional stability, mental health, and spiritual resilience. The study’s novelty lies in using hadith as an epistemological source for Islamic mental health theory and applying a prophetic-psychological approach to character education. However, this study does not empirically test Najati’s concept within educational institutions. Therefore, future research is recommended to develop pedagogical models and mental health assessment instruments grounded in Islamic spirituality, to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic education in nurturing a resilient generation rooted in tawḥīd values.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Farid Setiawan, Daffa Nur Fauzy; Ammar Thufail Amrullahhttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/13171Satire and Moral Critique in Hadith-Based Digital Da’wah: Hijab Discourses on TikTok2025-11-19T04:10:20+00:00Ahmad Amri Ahsaniahmadamriahsani@gmail.comMukhammad Zamzamim.zamzami@uinsa.ac.idMuhammad Lutfibustanlutfi@gmail.comWael Hegazywael_hegazy@ucsb.edu
This article problematizes the use of satirical narratives in TikTok-based digital da'wah that quote hadiths on the hijab, focusing on how satire functions both as moral critique and as a mechanism for producing stigma against Muslim women. This study examines how the TikTok account @musuhwanita constructs discourse through hadith-based satire and how these narratives shape social relations between men and women as well as configurations of religious authority in digital spaces. The central research question asks how discursive structures, social cognition, and ideological contexts operate in the satirical representation of the hijab. Empirically, the study is limited to an analysis of video content and audience comments published between August and September 2024, employing Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis. This analysis is conducted from an Islamic normative perspective grounded in the principles of amr ma'ruf nahy munkar and da'wah digital ethics. This study contributes to digital Islamic studies by demonstrating how satirical da'wah reproduces and negotiates the meanings of hadith, hijab, and the representation of Muslim women within contemporary configurations of online religious authority.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ahmad Amri Ahsani, Mukhammad Zamzami, Muhammad Lutfi, Wael Hegazyhttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/15102Principles of Education in the Perspective of the Qur'an: Theoretical Studies and its Development in the Modern Era2025-12-11T01:24:34+00:00Vina Novita22590124117@students.uin-suska.ac.idNurul Habibah Arfizeah22590124660@students.uin-suska.ac.idAlwizaralwizar@uin-suska.ac.id
Islamic education is fundamentally oriented toward the formation of a complete human being (insān kāmil) who is faithful, knowledgeable, and has noble character. This study aims to examine the principles of Qur'anic education and their relevance to the modern education system. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods through thematic analysis of Qur'anic verses, tafsir books, and contemporary academic literature. The results show that the principles of Qur'anic education encompass the values of monotheism, knowledge ('ilm), morals, tazkiyyah (purification of the soul), balance (tawāzun), and insan kamil. These six principles emphasize the balance between intellectual, spiritual, and moral development of humans. The concept of tazkiyyah occupies a primary position because it is the foundation for the blessings of knowledge and morals, while tarbiyyah and ta'līm emphasize the process of comprehensive growth and teaching. The relevance of Qur'anic education to modern education lies in its shared orientation toward character formation, moral literacy, and the holistic development of human potential. The integration of revealed values and modern rationality results in an educational paradigm oriented toward a balance between knowledge, faith, and good deeds. Thus, Qur'anic educational principles contribute significantly to the renewal of the modern educational paradigm, particularly in strengthening the spiritual, moral, and humanistic dimensions amidst the global values crisis.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Vina Novita, Nurul Habibah Arfizeah, Alwizarhttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/14185Hadith Scholarship in Baghdad and Andalusia (2nd–5th Centuries): A Comparative Study of al-Riḥlah, Intellectual Networks, and Textual Canonization2025-12-06T07:42:26+00:00Rahmadi Wiboworahmadi.wibowo@ilha.uad.ac.idMohd Khafidz bin Soronimohdkhafidz@uis.edu.myRosni binti Wazirrosni@kuis.edu.myNur Kholisnur.kholis@ilha.uad.ac.id
Baghdad held a strategic position as a center of intellectual brilliance and Islamic civilization, while Andalusia emerged as one of the most advanced Islamic civilizations under the Umayyad dynasty. This comparative study is crucial for understanding how scholarly networks influenced the development of hadith scholarship and the respective contributions of these regions, given the scarcity of systematic comparative studies on hadith studies in these specific areas, particularly between Baghdad and Andalusia. Employing a qualitative method with historical and comparative analysis, this research aims to examine the characteristics and comparisons of three key aspects: al-riḥlah, teacher-student networks, and written works before the 5th century Hijri. The findings reveal that scholars in Baghdad undertook al-riḥlah to Mecca, Medina, Kufa, Basra, Syam, Yemen, Maghreb, Khurasan, and Samarkand to obtain elevated chains of transmission (‘ulūw al-isnād) and leveraged the city’s central position as an intellectual hub. In contrast, Andalusian scholars conducted expansive al-riḥlah to the Levant, the Hijaz, Baghdad, and Egypt to strengthen their sanad and collect hadith manuscripts. The scholarly network in Baghdad exhibited dynamic mazhab interactions, whereas in Andalusia, it was hierarchical-territorial and predominantly centered around Maliki scholars such as Yaḥyā al-Laythī. Written contributions in Baghdad produced diverse genres, primarily dominated by kitāb al-rijāl and al-musnad, while Andalusian works focused extensively on syarah and transmission pathways of al-Muwaṭṭa’, establishing a dominant trend.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Rahmadi Wibowo, Mohd Khafidz bin Soroni, Rosni binti Wazir, Nur Kholishttp://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/taqaddumi/article/view/15306Problematic Hadiths on Aqīdah in the Book “Tanya Jawab Agama” Volumes 1–3 by the Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid of Muhammadiyah Central Leadership2026-01-16T07:07:28+00:00Saprul Matojirsaprulmatojir@gmail.comParjimanparjiman@ilha.uad.ac.idJannatul Husnajannatul@tafsir.uad.ac.id
Muhammadiyah as a movement for the purification and modernization of Islam, emphasizes the use of mutawātir hadiths in the realm of faith according to the tarjih method. However, many unclear qualities of hadith are still used. This study aims to evaluate the quality of hadith and examine the consistency of the application of the tarjih method in the book. This study was conducted through a qualitative approach, and the type of research is descriptive-analytical with the hadith criticism method, which involves evaluating the consistency of the application of the tarjih principle in each hadith used. The research results indicate that the application of the tarjih methodology in the Tanya Jawab Agama volumes 1-3 regarding hadiths on aqīdah is inconsistent, particularly in classifying the quality of the hadiths. It was found that there are three mutawātir hadiths, seven saḥīḥ aḥād hadith, and three da'īf hadiths. Some hadiths are presented only in translation without any explanation of their quality, while others are assessed inconsistently.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Saprul Matojir, Parjiman, Jannatul Husna
