Flies are commonly found on open food displays, such as those found in the coastal culinary tourism area of Depok Bantul. Food handlers play a crucial role in maintaining food hygiene. Their knowledge is a key factor influencing their behavior in fly control. This study aims to measure the knowledge about flies and its relationship with fly control behavior among food handlers in the Depok Bantul beach tourism area. The study used a Cross-sectional design involving 80 food handlers selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a closed-ended questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 51.25% of respondents had a high level of knowledge about flies, and 56.25% demonstrated good fly control behavior. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between knowledge and fly control behavior (p=0.004; PR=4.364; CI 95%=1.696–11.229). Food handlers with high knowledge tended to have better fly control behavior. These findings emphasize the importance of ongoing education in raising awareness and preventive measures against the dangers of flies as disease vectors.
2025-08-22T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Asep Rustiawan, Rismala Egitasari http://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/jkpl/article/view/13226 Pengetahuan Sikap Dan Masa Kerja Dengan Tindakan Perawat Dalam Pembuangan Sampah Medis Benda Tajam Di RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta 2025-07-14T03:33:56+00:00 Anggriani Ahmad Gailea muchsin.maulana@ikm.uad.ac.id Muchsin Maulana muchsin.maulana@ikm.uad.ac.id

Improper disposal of sharp medical waste is a critical environmental and occupational health issue, contributing to the spread of infectious diseases and increasing the risk of injury among healthcare workers. This study investigates the relationship between nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and length of service with their practices in disposing of sharp medical waste at RS PKU Muhammadiyah, Indonesia. A cross-sectional analytic survey was conducted in April 2023 involving 71 contract nurses selected through random sampling. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate methods using the chi-square test. Findings revealed a statistically significant association between knowledge and proper disposal practices (p = 0.013), while no significant relationships were found for attitude (p = 0.838) or length of service (p = 0.786). These results highlight the pivotal role of knowledge in promoting safe and environmentally responsible medical waste management. Strengthening continuous education and training programs for healthcare personnel is essential to improving waste handling practices and minimizing environmental and health risks.

Keywords: sharp medical waste, healthcare workers, waste disposal, knowledge

2025-07-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Muchsin Maulana, Anggriani Ahmad Gailea http://journal2.uad.ac.id/index.php/jkpl/article/view/13190 Analisis Faktor Determinan Kejadian Occupational Heat Strain Pada Pekerja Outdoor di Kota Tangerang Selatan 2025-06-04T06:03:29+00:00 Lailatul Qomariyah lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Muhammad Zulfikar Adha lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Sulaiman Salim lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Syaiful Bahri lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Sucipto lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Doddy Faizal lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com Lia Rizqi Nur Anisa lailatulqomariyah60@gmail.com
2025-07-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Lailatul Qomariyah, Muhammad Zulfikar Adha, Sulaiman Salim, Syaiful Bahri, Sucipto, Doddy Faizal, Lia Rizqi Nur Anisa
